Privacy and Internet are two things that don't go well together. Any action you perform, be it online or offline, will leave traces, such as logs, temporary Internet files and so on. Such information can be viewed by anyone with little experience. These traces can be deleted with the aid of software, such as Mil Shield. It will clean up temporary files, cookies, and any other file you don't need on your hard drive. Cleaning this kind of data also means that your computer will run a little better.

The setup package is not large. It's just 5 Mb and it can be downloaded in no time. Installing it requires going through a wizard which will only prompt you to specify what kind of shortcuts you want placed and if the software should be installed for the current or all users.

Mil Shiled's functions can be accessed from a small interface, via buttons placed on its left side. The software can clean up a wide range of data left behind by Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and other more or less known browsers. You can also delete unnecessary files saved by the system itself, from applications like Windows Media Player, Adobe Photoshop, Download Manager, and more. Selecting certain types of data to be deleted can be done by clicking on checkboxes in tree like structures, all placed on separate tabs, according to categories, such as browsers, Windows or applications. There is also a Custom tab which comes in very useful for adding other, third party software to the list. You can add them by browsing your folders or registry keys.

Selecting what data to clean is not all you can do in the settings category. You can also choose how or when to clean it, by selecting a delete method, number of passes or setting up a schedule. You can also create a list of trusted websites so that any traces left behind by these will not be touched by Mil Shield. It is recommended that you first visit the Settings category and see what data is selected by default before running the cleanup feature. If you are satisfied with the settings, all you have to do is click the Clean button and the software will start deleting the selected types of traces immediately. When deleting something, the physical data may still be present on the hard drive. That is why you can find a free space shredder in the Tools category. This will wipe the free space on your disk and it will make up 35 passes in order to make sure the data stays deleted.

Pros

Mil Shield has all the necessary features to make it a really useful tool. It can delete any kind of traces left behind by the operating system, browsers or any other third party software.

Cons

A registry cleaner could also come in handy, but there is nothing of the sorts to be found in Mil Shield. Your privacy is secured with Mil Shield. It can erase any unnecessary file left behind by any software or application installed on your computer.
